70s Spots: AFX Racing (1979) & Merry-Go-School Bus Toy (1977)

‘This is Data Race. The world’s only computerized road racing system.’

“The closest thing to real racing!”

Let’s sprawl out in the living room and play with some toys. First out of the box, a commercial for Aurora’s AFX Data Race model cars set. This one features a nifty computerized track and aired in November of 1979.

Second, going back a few years earlier to ’77, we have a spot for the little ‘uns. This one has a toddler pining to attend classes with Tomy’s Merry-Go-School Bus.

“Head for taca-taca-taca-Taco Bell!”

We’re laying out some tasty fast food selections today. A March 1978 commercial for Taco Bell followed by a McDonald’s breakfast spot from October 1979. Yummy!?

*Interesting note: I’m fairly surprised that this is the first time since our launch seven years ago that I’m posting something Taco Bell-related. The company’s Seventies commercials are somewhat rare.
