Music For Monday: Blondie, ‘(I’m Always Touched By Your) Presence Dear’ (1978)

Blondie’s “(I’m Always Touched By Your) Presence Dear” appeared on the band’s 1978 LP Plastic Letters. The song was written by former bassist Gary Valentine, who was no longer a member of the group when the tune was recorded and released.

“(I’m Always Touched By Your) Presence Dear” reached #10 on the UK charts and hit the top 20 in the Netherlands and in Belgium. Below, you’ll find excellent video from Europe’s TopPop program which aired on April 29, 1978.

Super 70s Ads: Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans (1979)

Vanderbilt Jeans ad appeared in the August 13, 1979 issue of New York magazine.

Gloria Vanderbilt, famed heiress and author, and mother of Anderson Cooper, had her own brand of jeans in the seventies. The tight-fitting trousers were all the rage in the disco era and here we find an unexpected ad in conjunction with the US Open Tennis Championships. Will the wonders of the 70s never cease?!
