“Good morning food that tastes great!”

Hello, Bionic Friends. I hope your long Memorial Day Weekend has been a good one. Here’s some mid-Seventies commercials to assist with the relaxation.

Firstly, we have Tony the Tiger and family in a spot for Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes. You don’t see Tony’s family often, so I’m going to call this a rare one. Following that, grab a look at commercials for Dole Pineapple, the ’78 Mercury Bobcat (“Love the Bobcat!”), and Doan’s Pills.

“Fruit juicy!”

We’ve got a 1974-1975 thing going on this time – with one caveat. Our main attraction is a commercial for Hawaiian Punch. This one aired in ’75, but judging from how young actor Mike “Bobby Brady” Lookinland appears, and the clothes the kids are sporting, I’d say the spot was originally produced around 1969.

Following that sweet 30-second fascination, take a look at spots for Lipton Noodle Soup, the G.I. Joe Adventure Team Helicopter, and Revlon’s Perfect Brow makeup. As always, I hope you enjoy thoroughly.

“Flavor fit for a queen!”

1972 and ’73 are the ancient years in the spotlight today. First up, a classic commercial for Imperial Margarine featuring the famous trumpet fanfare and magically-appearing crown. I think you’ll remember this spot – or, at least, this theme that ran for a good while. They appeared in the same general time frame as the Imperial commercials featuring Eve Arden.

After that mind-bending special effects masterpiece, take a look at a spot for Libbyland Frozen Dinners. I don’t remember the product, but I adore the commercial. Look at that set they built!

Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got ads for Homelite Chainsaws and Aurora’s Skittle Bowl (with Gene Wood).

“Collect all seven!”

Here’s a nifty collection of mid-to-late Seventies commercials. From 1978, we have a Burger Chef Star Wars Fun Meals spot and one featuring an animated Kitty Litter mascot (possibly voiced by Pat Harrington). From ’77, there’s spots for Fritos Corn Chips and the Weber BBQ.

I didn’t have access to the Burger Chef chain growing up on the West Coast. Looks like I missed out on some quality Star Wars merch there. I know someone out there still has their Fun Meal toys after all these years. Nice one, kid!
