“It’s the little train that delivers music to all stations.”

All aboard for our Daily 70s Spot. Here’s a classic commercial you’ll remember for Tomy’s Tuneyville Choo-Choo. A musical toy train with record discs. My little brother (born in ’77) had one of these.

Spot aired in 1978. Narration is by Sterling Holloway, voice of Winnie-the-Pooh.

Go All The Way” first appeared on Raspberries self-titled debut L.P. in May of 1972. The power pop tune, written and sung by Eric Carmen, was the band’s biggest US hit and reached a high of #5 on the Billboard “Hot 100.”

Here’s the group performing on The Mike Douglas Show in 1972. The sound seems to have been re-synched to the record as the original doesn’t have as good of a mix. Eat it up.

*An interesting note: Mike Douglas’ other guests that day included Billie Jean King and Joe Namath.

Daily 70s Spot time. Here’s a kid-focused, Tide XK detergent commercial. Spot aired in the early 1970s. My best guess would be 1970-73.

This is a good day to remember the original World Trade Center, its surrounding environs and the people who lived and worked in the area. In this wonderful collection of photographs, taken by Wil Blanche on behalf of The Environmental Protection Agency, we see the World Trade towers shortly after their official opening in the spring of 1973.
