“Where America shops for value.” (Sears commercial, 1979)
“They’re worth a second look.”
It’s time to try on the last Daily 70s Spot of the year. Here’s a Sears commercial featuring women’s “super value” shirts and “pants that fit.” Spot aired in December of 1979. Do we spy some 80s style starting to creep in here?
“There never seems to be enough time…” (Jim Croce, 1973)
Forty years ago today, Jim Croce was at the top of the charts with his self-penned tune, “Time in a Bottle.” The song originally appeared on Croce’s 1972 L.P., You Don’t Mess Around with Jim. It was re-issued as a single following a well-received appearance in a 1973 ABC Movie of the Week (She Lives) and Croce’s untimely death in September of ’73.
The week of December 29, 1973 and the first week of the following year, on January 05, 1974, “Time in a Bottle” claimed the top of the Billboard US “Hot 100.” Head back 40 years with the home movies-style video below.
Happy Monday, beautiful people! It’s time to quench our thirsts in a hearty, low-calorie fashion. Here’s another One Calorie Tab Cola commercial featuring the “beautiful people” campaign song. Spot aired in July of 1978.
Look at them polyester sidewalls go! (Goodyear commercial, 1972)
“Made for American cars.”
All right, let’s get our Daily 70s Spot out on the test track. Here we have a Goodyear commercial featuring custom wide tread radial tires. Spot aired in January of 1972.
Alice told Carol about this, but Carol is taking full credit. (Klean n’ Shine commercial, 1975)
“The foam that cleans and shines.”
Time to spray on our Daily 70s Spot. Here’s one of the many 70s-era Klean n’ Shine commercials starring Florence Henderson (of The Brady Bunch fame). Spot aired in May of 1975.

‘That’s what my heart did!’ (‘Hop, Skip, And A Jump,’ Bedrock Rockers, 1972)
A very good holiday weekend to everyone. For the last Funshine Friday of the year, let’s visit once again with The Bedrock Rockers.
The short musical clip below features the tune, “Hop, Skip and a Jump” and comes from a circa late 1972-early ’73 episode of Hanna-Barbera’s Flintstone Comedy Hour. If the song reminds you of The Partridge Family, that would make sense, as many of the same musicians (The Ron Hicklin Singers) are featured.
