Music For Monday: Rod Stewart, ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ (1979)

What song was number one 35 years-ago-today? I’m glad you asked!

Rod Stewart released “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” in November of 1978 and it appears on the singer’s Blondes Have More Fun L.P. The disco-flavored tune spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard “Hot 100” in February of 1979. Stewart has said he has no regrets about anything he’s done, but I’m not sure that still applies to his outfit in the official video below.

“It’s like pizza- on top of pizza!”

Yesterday we indulged in the beer – now, here’s the pizza. Two spots for Pizza Hut to be precise.

In the first commercial (aired in Jan.’76, produced in ’74) we have a family fussing over “chewy” versus “crispy” slices. In the second spot (from ’78) we have a table of fellows, which includes Richard Kline from Three’s Company, extremely excited about Pizza Hut’s “Super Style.” Bite into it.

It’s going to be a beer and pizza weekend here at the ‘Disco. Today, we’ve got a pair of Miller High Life commercials. The first focuses on a ski rescue team and the second glorifies US truckers. Either way, “It’s Miller time.”
