Music For Monday: Bonnie Tyler, ‘It’s A Heartache’ (1978)

"Hits you when you're down..." (Bonnie Tyler, 'It's a Heartache,' 1978)

“Hits you when you’re down…” (Bonnie Tyler, ‘It’s a Heartache,’ 1978)

Welsh singer, Bonnie Tyler released “It’s a Heartache” (written by Ronnie Scott and Steve Wolfe) in the fall of 1977. The song hit #4 in the UK in November ’77 and by June of 1978 had climbed to a high of #3 on the Billboard “Hot 100.”

I can remember “It’s a Heartache” when it ruled the summer radio airwaves (I would have been 11-years-old). It seemed to me like the song was playing every 15 minutes for about a year. I’m surprised it wasn’t #1 – but Andy Gibb’s “Shadow Dancing” and Gerry Rafferty’s “Baker Street” kept it from the pinnacle of the charts.

“Don’t Say Beer, Say Bull!”

A very good, relaxing Sunday to you. Today we’ve got a Schlitz beer double-header. Both spots are somewhat humorous. Firstly, we have a boxer who’s full of gusto. Secondly, a thirsty cowboy crawls into town for a drink and meets the Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull. Quaff it!
