Acid indigestion “Relief” weekend continues (and sadly, ends) today. This time around we have Rolaids competitors; Alka-Seltzer (1976) and Tums (1979).

It sure as heck looks like Morgan Freeman in the back of the bowling team in the Alka-Seltzer spot. Unfortunately, the source video is a bit blurry so I’m not comfortable saying it is for sure. What think you?

Welcome to acid indigestion “Relief” weekend! I’ve got a hearty batch of antacid spots lined up and they should cure all that ails you.

Let’s dive in with a trio of Rolaids spots featuring the famous “How do you spell relief” campaign. The third commercial offers up a little star power with Dallas Cowboys’ Quarterback, Roger Staubach. Chew ’em.

*Note: The voice narration on these spots is provided by legendary DJ, Scott Muni.

Hanna-Barbera’s live-action series, The Skatebirds only ran in its full, 60-minute glory for four months, from September, 1977 to January, 1978.

Much like The Banana Splits, The Skatebirds featured four costumed characters with voices dubbed by animation actors. Between the live-action comedy sequences, an assortment of cartoons; The Robonic Stooges, Wonder Wheels and Woofer & Wimper: Dog Detectives were shown. Live-action segments from Mystery Island were also included.

Not a whole lot seems to be available from the show but you can enjoy three and a half minutes below. Have a happy Funshine Friday!
