Music For Monday: Billy Paul, ‘Me And Mrs. Jones’ (1972)

Billy Paul’s “Me And Mrs. Jones” held the #1 spot on both the US Hot 100 and R&B chart for multiple weeks in late 1972. The song was written by Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, and Cary Gilbert and appeared on the 360 Degrees Of Billy Paul LP.

I was six-years-old when “Me And Mrs. Jones” was a hit. I remember the tune saturating the airwaves and Paul singing it on various TV shows. I seemed like every third song was Billy Paul for a while there. Let’s Look & Listen.

“Spinning Wheel Blues” appeared on the band’s 1970 LP Ma Kelly’s Greasy Spoon and was written by the group’s Francis Rossi and unofficial fifth-member Bob Young. Spin it!
