The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, a spin-off of Hanna-Barbera’s Wacky Races cartoon, originally ran from September, 1969 to January of 1970. Just qualifying for 1970s pop culture. The show ran in reruns in the 1970s as well, so I’m laying it on you free of any 60s-era guilt, man.

Foul Play stumbled into theaters in July of 1978. The comedic-thriller is set in San Francisco and and stars Goldie Hawn as librarian, Gloria Mundy who is drawn into a Hitchcock-style assassination mystery. Chevy Chase, hot off of his Saturday Night Live fame, plays police Lieutenant Tony Carlson. Billy Barty, Burgess Meredith, Brian Dennehy and Dudley Moore also appear.

Foul Play was directed by Colin Higgins (writer, Harold & Maude) and was the 13th highest-grossing film of 1978. Roll the trailer and a rare TV spot.
