“You never know when you’re going to be up close.”
Happy Sunday! On-tap today, we’ve got a pair of Close-Up commercials from November 1970.
First, you’ll find a swingin’ party packed with beautiful minglers. (Yes, “minglers.” That is now a word.) After that, a bride and a wedding guest with no concept of personal space.
Hey! Where ya goin’ lil’ WHOO-P Vega? (Chevy commercial, 1972)
“Vegas are very happy cars.”
A pair of Chevy spots roll into view for today’s Seventies commercials. First, we have a collection of bright yellow ’73 Vegas on display in a fast-moving spot from November of 1972.
Afterward, you’ll enjoy a strange Impala ad with a “Smoke Bomb” ventilation theme. This one aired in January 1971 (and was likely produced in 1970).
I think they may have taken a shot from a few year’s earlier and added in a ’76 bike here. Schwinn BMX! originally appeared in the June 1976 issue of Boy’s Life magazine.
Don Rickles couldn’t be happier about Right Guard. (1974)
“Listen, ya hockey puck!”
Bionic chuckleheads! Time to smile at Don Rickles and Arte Johnson as they help sell Right Guard deodorant.
First we have Rickles shouting at the Right Guard president in July of 1974. After that, Laugh-In‘s Arte Johnson makes a guest appearance in July ’75. Both of these actor-comedians are thankfully still with us and in their 80s. Spray ’em on.
As is now traditional: Happy Halloween, Bionic pals! It’s time for a tasty holiday repeat. Enjoy heartily!
