“Wiping and shining!”

Here’s actor, Rick Hurst again (in the striped shirt). This time he appears in a spot for Sprint car wax. I recognize the other actor, but am drawing a blank on his name. I know someone will fill me in. Please do.

The commercial aired in July of 1975.

“Dial and save while weekend rates apply.”

A veddy happy, Monday, ‘Bionic pals. This week, let’s stay on a 1975 track. To get us started, here’s a spot for Bell System telephone touting new 22 cent weekend call rates.

I find it interesting that Bell never refers to themselves in the spot. Perhaps so they can use the commercial across the nation where the Bell name might not apply. The spot aired in May of 1975.

“Something a lady really appreciates.”

“Marching Bands & Restrooms”? That’s right! They’re the themes of two Texaco spots from November 1971 on display today.

First up, an extravagant halftime show complete with baton twirlers, fireworks and a marching band. After that, some lovely American scenery and a promise of “clean and neat”restrooms.
