Look at those Snow Biters go! (Firestone commercial, 1978)
“They’ll put teeth in your winter driving.”
Here’s a commercial cartoon for you featuring Firestone’s Snow Biters tires. These animated tires likely frightened the toddlers of America when this aired in November of 1978.
The winter holiday fun continues now with an awesome commercial rescued from obscurity by the ‘Disco. It’s Redd Foxx and Billy Van riding muscle cars and snow jumping for Colt 45. Oh, yes!
And so began the ugly holiday sweater craze… (Budweiser commercial, 1974)
“Somebody still cares about quality.”
All right now! Let’s begin rolling out the winter holiday-themed Seventies spots. We’ll keep it up for the next few weeks. Here’s a snow-covered skiing commercial for Budweiser. Narration by ol’ Ed McMahon. The spot aired in December of 1974.
Just a hat. That’s all Lil’ softy needs to get by. (Nice’n Soft commercial, 1979)
“It’s softy-er!”
70s mascot alert! Here’s the not-creepy-at-all Lil’ Softy doing her public exhibitionism thing for Nice’n Soft bathroom and facial tissues. The spot aired in November of 1979. The actors are Susan Tolsky and Ron Masak.
Sci Fi Dick Van Dyke. Right on, 70s! (Touché game commercial, 1978)
“The unique strategy game with a hidden force that changes every game.”
Here’s a rather awesome spot starring everyone’s favorite, Dick Van Dyke. The sci fi-styled commercial is for Gabriel Toys’ electronic Touché game. I like how they refer to the in-game AI as the “Force.” The Star Wars phenomenon was in full-effect when this ran.
The spot aired in November of 1978. Have a happy Saturday!
