70s Spots: Yamaha Motorcycles (1979)

Oh yeah!

“Every time we race – we learn more about how to build you a better motorcycle.”

Here’s two sleek and sexy Yamaha motorcycle commercials from February of 1979. In the first spot, you’ll find a variety of racing bikes doing their thing.

After that, you’ll climb onto a “Yamaha Special” in first-person view. Rev ’em up and go!

Jim ‘Maverick’ Rockford says, ‘Get the OneStep!’

“The simplest camera in the world.”

How goes the fledgling weekend? Thanks for checking in for a double dose of nostalgia.

Here’s two spots that aired in October of 1977. First, the famous team of James Garner and Marriette Hartley for the Polaroid OneStep camera. Second, Cicely Tyson for the RCA ColorTrak TV set.

That Serling scowl.

“Ford gives you better ideas.”

Two spots for the 1971 Ford LTD for your pre-weekend celebration. Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone) stars in the first commercial from September of 1970. Serling also provides narration for the second clip from December ’70.

Only…in the Twilight Zone.

Formula ‘more than’ One.

“When you’re having more than one.”

The original Schaefer beer is pretty much gone these days. However, current owners Pabst (the company changed hands a few times) do still supply a few markets with a beer they call “Schaefer.”

Below, you’ll find two Schaefer spots from when the beer was still brewed by the Schaefer family. First George Kennedy (Cool Hand Luke, The Blue Knight) flies into a July 1978 ad. After that, racing champ Mario Andretti cooks up a meal in February of 1979.

70s Spots: Trailways Bus (Claude Akins) & Speed Stick (1976)

Mr. Akins, that’s a Greyhound. Hello? Mr. Akins?

“Until you test-ride a Trailways – you’ll never know what the best bus is.”

Here’s Claude “Sheriff Lobo” Akins for Trailways bus lines. When this man speaks, you can’t help but pay attention.

After Mr. Akins, we have a Mennen Speed Stick deodorant commercial. Both commercials aired in January of 1976 (and were likely produced in late ’75). Roll on!

Normally it’s a pie in the face for McCann.

“You won’t want to shave it off.”

Here’s a pair of silly but lovable Palmolive Rapid Shave spots from April of 1970. Actor Chuck McCann (from Far Out Space Nuts and…a million other shows) appears as a traffic cop in the first spot. They’re good, clean fun. Enjoy.
