70s Spots: Nabisco Lil’ Loaf & Lay’s Potato Chips (1974)

“Magnifique!”

“The new snack that looks like a little loaf of my French bread.”

More food-related commercials from February 1974 on the table today. For starters, we have a tasty new snack from Nabisco called Lil’ Loaf. I hadn’t heard of these mini-baguettes before. How about you? I think they need to revive these and give them another chance.

Our second course is a handful of Lay’s Potato Chips. Get your fill below.

Breakfast!

“The end of the same old breakfast.”

We have a pair of edible commercials from February 1974 today – and I’m not sure which one I like better. We’ll consider it a double A-side.

First, Skippy peanut butter wallops our ears with a catchy jingle and attempts to convince us that it’s a great breakfast choice. Then, a spot for a hot cereal you rarely hear about – Cream of Rice. Dig in!

Such plain pockets.

“The big difference between us and them is the pockets…and the price.”

We’re visiting the Jean Genie of 1977 today. First, take in a spot for JCPenney showing off their Plain Pockets line.

After that, a commercial for Lee Jeans which seems to have been co-financed by the Cotton Industry. Both spots aired in November of ’77.

It’s one of those “the eighties are approaching!” days here at the ‘Disco. Join in as we present two November 1979 Chevrolet commercials.

First, the 1980 Chevy Mote Carlo is on display. After that, the 80 Caprice and Impala are rolling out of the factory, ready to take on the new decade.

After that, a February ’78 spot for Maybelline Nail Color featuring a fierce ping pong match.
