We’re opening two bottles of pop on this fine afternoon. Both of the Pepsi commercials on display here aired in September of 1978. The first features a family birthday party, the second, a catamaran sailing outing. C’mon, c’mon!
“You won’t want to wear them all the time – but you could.”
Football and fashion go together like…well, not a whole lot. Nevertheless, I’ve got two commercials for you today from October of 1972 featuring just that.
First up, Bob Griese of the Miami Dolphins (my childhood favorite team despite growing up in L.A.) in a spot for Sears slacks. Second, Fran Tarkenton of the Minnesota Vikings for Arrow shirts. Quarterback style on view. Go long!
“British Airways takes more care of you in the sky above and on the earth below.”
A pair of flight-related commercials today. First we have actor Robert Morley in one of the many spots he appeared in for British Airways. This one, featuring a hot air balloon, aired in September of 1978.
After that, a historic spot from Eaton Electronics featuring the Space Shuttle. This one aired in January 1979 and was likely produced in ’78. Take off, eh?
The Roy Rogers Roast Beef Sandwich – ‘ a meal all by itself’
“You won’t find better eatin’ anyplace.”
Here’s two Western-style eatery commercials. One from the start of the decade, the other, nearer the end. First it’s Roy Rogers and the restaurant chain bearing his name from November of 1970.
After that, a Ponderosa spot from January of 1979 (produced in ’78). Yee haw and such!
