Funshine Friday: ‘Land Of The Lost’ Season Premiere Promo (1976)

Earthquake ’76 – ‘Land of the Lost’ style

Happy Funshine Friday! Today we have an NBC promo for the third season premiere of Sid and Marty Krofft’s children’s TV series Land of the Lost.

By the time the third season of the portal-traveling series rolled around in September of ’76, Spencer Milligan, who portrayed the dad, had departed the show. He was replaced by Ron Harper, who played Uncle Jack. Wesley Eure appeared as Will Marshall throughout the series’ run and Kathy Coleman played Holly.

70s Spots: Arrid Extra Dry & Vitalis (Pete Maravich, 1970)

No, this isn’t Pete Maravich, but I’m Loving that 1970 style!

“I don’t like to smell too pretty.”

Keeping with a 1970 theme today, we have two good grooming commercials. First up, a spot from June 1970 for Arrid Extra Dry antiperspirant. The spot shows off the hot new feature of spray-on aluminum. Gulp!

Second, a spot for Vitalis Dry Control hair spray starring basketball great “Pistol” Pete Maravich. This one aired in early January of 1971 and was almost certainly produced in 1970 as well.

Reading up on Maravich, I was saddened to learn that he died of a heart defect in 1988 at the young age of 40.

Gargle and keep those colds away! (?)

“Fight back with Listerine Antiseptic.”

With winter slowly approaching it’s time for Listerine mouthwash and cold tablets. At least, according to these commercials from October of 1970, it is. You’ll love the antiseptic flavor!

‘Busch!’

“Head for the mountains.”

Two Busch Beer commercials from June of 1979 for you today. The first spot features a group of telephone linemen and the second, a road work team. The company was definitely going for a “hard-workin’ men out in the streets” feel with these.
