The Ozark Mountain Daredevils’ “Jackie Blue” was written by the band’s Larry Lee and Steve Cash, and produced by Glyn Johns (of The Beatles Get Back fame) and David Anderle. The song first appeared on the It’ll Shine When It Shines LP in the fall of 1974. “Jackie Blue” was released as a single in early 1975 and it rose to #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Cash Box and Record World both placed it at #1.
The animated promotional film below was created by Dutch music show TopPop and aired in that market in June of 1975. Ooh, ooh, Jackie!
