Loretta Lynn’s signature tune, “Coal Miner’s Daughter” was recorded in October of 1969 and released in May of 1970. This classic, written by Lynn about her Kentucky upbringing, rose to #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and was her first song to crack the Billboard Hot 100 (#83).
Here’s a clip of Lynn (in a mighty colorful dress) which, according to the poster, is from an April 14, 1971 TV appearance in Nashville, Tennessee.
