  1. Seeing that Ecology logo again, really brought back a flood of memories. It recalls a very different time in this country, a time that just feels more colorful and alive.

    It must have been 1970, while living in California, I became an official Boy Scout representative to the local Girl Scout troop. Worked with them that summer and into the winter on their Ecology community projects. Still have the badge (yes with the big green Ecology logo right in the middle) they’d given me at a troop meeting when I found out i’d been the only Boy Scout not to turn them down. I put that award on my red badge jacket that recorded all the scouting events and awards I’d gotten, caught hell from a lot of people for having a ‘Girl Scout’ badge, but you know what … I wore that emblem with pride.

    A lot of memories that little green and white flag brings back.
