Let’s continue with a Ford theme for our Daily 70s Spot. Here’s another Ford Pinto commercial (this time for the 3-Door Runabout) featuring a giant map of the USA. Spot aired in January of 1972.

What a shame that the Pinto has the legacy of exploding when hit from behind. If I remember correctly, if hit with enough force, the gas tank would be pushed forward where it could be punctured by bolts from the transmission. Too bad. It was a nice, economical little car.
That’s all people seem to remember about the Pinto. An exploding bottom.
