‘Korg: 70,000 B.C.’ TV intro, 1974

Hanna-Barbera’s live-action series, Korg: 70,000 B.C. first aired Saturday mornings on ABC in September of 1974. A total of 16, 30-minute episodes were produced.

The adventure series follows a family of Ice Age neanderthals as they confront the unknown and struggle their way through a life of danger. Wild cave bears and suspicious tribes are just two of the worries the family encounters in their travails.

  1. Wow, never heard of this one!! I was 12 when this would have shown and I was still watching Saturday morning TV. From an anthropological viewpoint, they got the physical look of the people down pretty well. However, how they happen to run into elephants, tigers and lions is a mystery. Aren’t they native to three different continents? Oh, I forgot. It’s Hollywood.

    • It’s a rare one. Apparently it was intended to be educational and “The American Museum of Natural History and The Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History served as consultants.”
      I know I saw a few episodes (I would have been around 7 & 8) but I didn’t watch it regularly. My memories are vague.
