Peter Hyams‘ Capricorn One hit theaters in the early summer of 1978. The action-conspiracy flick revolves around a hoax Mars landing and stars James Brolin, Sam Waterston and O.J. Simpson as a trio of threatened astronauts and Elliot Gould as an investigative reporter who smells something fishy.
I caught Capricorn One in the theater when it first ran and I remember greatly enjoying it. I wanted to sit there and watch the thrilling spectacle a second time. However, I was 11-years-old at the time. I haven’t seen the film since and I have the feeling it may not hold up to my lofty memories. Time, once again, to find out.

Previously on Trailer Tuesday: ‘The Lords of Flatbush’ (1974)
I remember seeing this at a local theatre on a Saturday morning. The aerial chase at the end between a crop duster being piloted by Telly Savalas and two “evil” government helicopers is one of the greatest chases ever filmed, but it is largely unknown. This was on Turner Classic Movies a few years back on the anniversary of the moon landing. It held up pretty well.
Was reading the “making of” on how they flew in Savalas for a one day shoot. Glad to hear it held up for you. I need to re-watch it.
