Daily 70s spot alert. Today, we have a Polaroid ‘One Step’ commercial starring James Garner. If you were alive in the 1970s you or someone in your family owned a Polaroid camera. Here’s long-time Polaroid spokesman, Garner showing off the One Step with the new SX-70 film. Commercial aired in May, 1978.

  1. James Garner and actress Mariette Hartley made dozens of great commercials for the Polaroid camera. They worked so well together that many people thought they were married (they weren’t). Mariette even went on the Tonight Show in the late 70s and showed Johnny Carson a t-shirt that she had made that said “I am not Mrs. James Garner.” She even had a shirt made for her infant that said “I am not James Garner’s baby”.

    James Garner made these commercials at the height of his popularity on one of the greatest detective shows ever, “The Rockford Files”.
