Norman Lear’s Cold Turkey released to theaters in February of 1971. The film, starring Dick Van Dyke, focuses on a small Iowa town where all residents attempt to give up smoking in order to win a $25 million dollar pay-out from the Valiant Tobacco Company.
Interesting Facts: Cold Turkey was filmed in 1969 and its release was delayed until ’71 by United Artists who were worried about the film’s money-making potential.
Randy Newman provided the soundtrack, his first for a motion picture.
Co-stars include; Bob Newhart, Jean Stapleton, Tom Poston and Edward Everett Horton.
