Welcome to June! We’ve got a 1978 theme going for today’s batch of vintage commercials. First up, a spot for A&W Root Beer featuring the “Frosty Mug Taste” jingle. Did you twist your fingers into “mug-holdin’ shape” after viewing this series of ads? I definitely did.

Following that classic, you’ll find spots for McDonald’s French Fries, Plymouth Duster, and Contac cold medicine. It sure sounds like Lloyd Bridges providing the VO for Contac but I’m only 95 percent sure on that. Enjoy!

“Fruit juicy!”

We’ve got a 1974-1975 thing going on this time – with one caveat. Our main attraction is a commercial for Hawaiian Punch. This one aired in ’75, but judging from how young actor Mike “Bobby Brady” Lookinland appears, and the clothes the kids are sporting, I’d say the spot was originally produced around 1969.

Following that sweet 30-second fascination, take a look at spots for Lipton Noodle Soup, the G.I. Joe Adventure Team Helicopter, and Revlon’s Perfect Brow makeup. As always, I hope you enjoy thoroughly.

“Flavor fit for a queen!”

1972 and ’73 are the ancient years in the spotlight today. First up, a classic commercial for Imperial Margarine featuring the famous trumpet fanfare and magically-appearing crown. I think you’ll remember this spot – or, at least, this theme that ran for a good while. They appeared in the same general time frame as the Imperial commercials featuring Eve Arden.

After that mind-bending special effects masterpiece, take a look at a spot for Libbyland Frozen Dinners. I don’t remember the product, but I adore the commercial. Look at that set they built!

Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got ads for Homelite Chainsaws and Aurora’s Skittle Bowl (with Gene Wood).
